RIVER TRIPS & RETREATS

Most of our favorite moments happen far from the stage — floating down rivers, hiking through wild places, and gathering under open skies with our community. There’s something magical about blending our music with nature — singing around a campfire, watching the sunset with friends, and feeling the rhythm of the world around us. Our river trips and retreats are a chance to slow down, reconnect, and celebrate what we love most: music, movement, and the shared joy of being outside together.

UPCOMING EXPERIENCES:

RIVERWONDERGRASS - JUNE 10-14, 2026

5 DAYS/4 NIGHTS - Yampa Canyon on the Yampa River in CO to Green River, UT

Operated by Adrift

Located in the beautiful Dinosaur National Monument, over 200,000 acres of pristine river wilderness, this 5-day Yampa River rafting wilderness trip meanders 72 miles through three beautiful canyons on two rivers. Spend the first three days exploring Yampa Canyon on the Yampa River in Colorado. On day four enter the Green River and Utah to follow part of John Wesley Powell’s expedition of 1869.

The Yampa is one of the west’s last free-flowing rivers and is untamed. What this means is that the flows can be high, the rapids challenging and the experience heartwarming. Most rapids are class III, one is class IV. The weather this time of year can be cooler at night with all types of situations possible.

These intimate river journeys bring together members of the WWG artist community and friends on an adventure through the heart of desert canyons. Empty sandy beaches, majestic hikes, thrilling whitewater, riverside camping, and musical floats are combined with healthy foods, deep conversation, and space to reconnect with each other. Take in riverside musical performances each evening plus improvisational jams.

The trip includes all meals, breakfast, lunch, and dinner (organic and local when possible), all equipment, guides, music, and experiences. Tip not included. Alcohol is not included. Guests may bring their own beverages, NO DRINKING ON THE RIVER OR UNTIL WE GET TO CAMP EACH DAY. NO DRUG USE ON THE TRIP.

RIO CHAMA - JUNE 19-21, 2026

3 DAYS/2 NIGHTS - Rio Chama about 1 hour outside of Taos, NM

Operated by Far Flung Adventures

Join us for three days with LVDY on the Rio Chama outside of Taos and Santa Fe, New Mexico for campfire music against a backdrop of southwestern wilderness. This special trip is limited to only 16 spaces, meaning guests can expect top notch service and intimate musical performances.

Day 1: We will meet at 9am at Bode’s General Store in Abiquiu, NM (meeting places), after which we will take a scenic 1 hr. shuttle to the put-in. Our drive will feature vistas of the craggy peaks of the San Juan Mountains, the massive Brazos Cliffs-over 3000 vertical feet high, and the village of Tierra Amarilla, the center of Reies Tijerina’s land grant revolt of the l960’s. Our launch point is at El Vado Ranch, a rustic, riverside fishing resort. The Chama River immediately whisks us away through a series of swift riffles and into the evergreen-lined canyon. We enter Chama Canyon Wilderness and negotiate Aragon Rapids (Class II). Our camp will be on an old high-water bench, under shelter of ponderosa pines and Douglas firs. After a delicious supper everyone will settle in around the campfire for laughter, music and good times!

Day 2: Enjoy a leisurely morning beginning with a hearty, hot breakfast. A song or two to get us going and we are off down the river. If time allows we will stop for a hike up one of the numerous side canyons or to the top of Navaho Peak for a spectacular vista. We will arrive at camp early for more relaxing camp time, riverside music and great food.

Day 3: We will encounter some longer, steeper rapids and multi-hued sandstone cliffs up to 1000′ high. Emerging from the canyon wilderness area, we observe a quiet zone as we pass the Christ in the Desert Monastery. Now begins the lively whitewater run (Class II-III) into the headwaters of Abiquiu upper Reservoir. Our take out at mid-afternoon, enables us to return you to your vehicles in Abiquiu by 4:00pm.
